Teacher Deals and Dollar Steals!

This is my first post on this great collaborative blog - Teacher Deals and Dollar Steals! I am so excited! I check this blog everyday to see what my awesome blogging friends are offering! I have gotten some amazing deals!

If you are like me, and love a sale and deals I have one for you! For 3 days, my I SPY CVC Words - Back to School Theme will be just $1 (regular price $3). You have to hurry though, you only have three days to steal it on sale!

Students use a magnifying glass to hunt for CVC words hidden in the picture. They record the words on their recording sheet. You may have seen other I Spy products but mine is a little different!

I include an answer sheet along with the hidden words revealed. This was done out of necessity. When I used these during guided reading, I always had one or two students getting very upset that they couldn’t find a word. It would take me such a long time to help them having to pretty much go through the entire page with a magnifying glass myself! Now, you can just ask them if they found the word on the shoe. On the desk? On her shirt? So much easier to give a tip then an answer :)

So try them out in your classroom! I am sure your students will love them as much as my students do!

Click on any of the pics above to take you over to TpT or click here I Spy CVC Words Back to School Theme.

Classroom Friendly Sharpener Review :)

Hello sweet friends! I am here to tell you about an AMAZING product for your classroom!

First let me tell you about my woes with my pencil sharpeners over the last 15 years. We have the old fashioned ones that are screwed onto the wall. You know the ones, straight out of Ralphie’s classroom in A Christmas Story? The barrel would constantly fall off, the kids weren’t strong enough to turn the crank, and  it would eat pencils like a ravenous toothless beaver! Last year, the barrel fell off and was lost. While waiting on line, I spied a friend putting his finger in the hole like a pencil and trying to sharpen it! I had the custodian take it down the very next day!

Then I battled with electric sharpeners. They work ok. Kids love them and like to see just how short they can get their pencil before the motor burns up! Last year, I tripped over the cord, and it crashed to the floor. Never worked again. In prior years I have had to bring it to my dad to dissect it and pull out crayons and the plastic wrapping from cheap pencils. It was just annoying!

Now, my prayers have been answered with this magical gem! The Classroom Friendly Sharpener from  Classroom Friendly Supplies!

My girls need 70 sharpened pencils EACH for the first day of school! Ummm, wow. Ok. And they have to be Ticonderoga. That part I agree with! Nothing is better than a Ticonderoga! So, after a trip to Costco, Office Max, and Walmart I got MOST of the 210 pencils they need!

I also got some great prize pencils for my own classroom! This is where I really wanted to see if my new sharpener held up! I have a slew of these pencils   clogging up my desk drawers! I HATE THEM! THE KIDS HATE THEM! Everyone knows they never get sharp and they break and they are just plain awful. So, if this little blue machine could turn my stash of pencils into prizes this year, I would do cartwheels! Take a look at this pic! You have seen the good ole el cheapos look like this! Look what my blue machine did!

And here is how this UH-MAZ-ING pencil sharpener works!

Please note that the pencil remains stable and DOES NOT MOVE at all! The above pic makes the pencil look like it is moving. I wanted to show you where to place your hands.

Cartwheel time!

Have you guessed that I have found the answer to my pencil sharpening prayers? I LOVE this sharpener!
Here are the top reasons why:

1. Sharpens to an excellent precision point
2. Easy to use
3. No batteries, compact, light
4. Can sharpen cheap plastic wrapped pencils
5. Comes in many cool colors (blue, red, green, black, and oh my word, PINK)

Here is a discount code for you to use if you would like to purchase one of your own! This code is good only until 10/18/14.

Click below to get over to the site to pick one out! Free shipping!
I am off to make a name label for my sharpener! I would hate for my new best friend to get lost in school!

Back to School TpT Sale August 4th & August 5th

It is almost here! The big TpT sale! I am so excited! My wish list is full of lots of clipart to make more wonderful products with! I have looked at my wish list many times today, feeling like it is my shopping list before Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t want to miss a thing!

What kinds of things are you looking for? Classroom decor? Beginning of the year goodies? Planning ahead with holiday themed activities? It is just so much fun! EVERYONE loves a great sale!

Here are a few things that I have for back to school in my store. Of course, they will all be on sale August 4th and 5th with the code BTS14 a full 28% off!

How cute are these? I made the cover look just like a bulletin board so you can see what an adorable addition they would make to your classroom!

These job charts use the number system (every child is assigned a number) instead of children’s names. Of course. if you would prefer to write names with a sharpie, I made sure you could!

Using a number system allow you to reuse these cuties year after year!
If there is a theme you would like, please let me know! I will try to make it for you :)

Wishing you all a great 2 days of shopping :)
Have fun!

Below is a list of stores that are also throwing a sale!

Back to School BBQ Blog Hop

I’ve teamed up with some great blogging friends to bring you a back to school recipe!

Have you heard of Jitter Juice? Well, on the first day of school, my kiddos enjoy a cup!

Now, have you heard of the book First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg? Here is a pic!

Maybe you know this book or have seen it in the back to school bucket, bin or shelf. It is a great book to read on the first day of school especially since there is a fabulous RECIPE to go along with it!

The main character in the story is very nervous about her first day of school. This alone could spark tons of conversations as your children relate to the text. Well, there is a surprise ending to this book too! You’ll have to read it to find out :)!

Here is where the fun comes in! Introduce the poem below to your class. Tell them that it is okay to feel a bit jittery on the first day of school. This drink will help them feel better! You may decide to make the drink with the class. I always have it already made so there is a sense of magic to it!

And now, the magic recipe!

As you can see by the size of the cups, I don’t fill my kiddos up with this sugary treat! Just a small cup will do! You can make a graph afterwards to show how many students liked Jitter Juice and how many did not. Most children LOVE Jitter Juice :) It’s fun to watch them try to figure out what is in this recipe!

Would you like a FREE copy of the poem to use with your class? I put it in Google Docs for you! You can download it by clicking on the picture below :)

AND, how about a chance to win this back to school product from my store?

Great! It is super easy! Just enter the rafflecopter below!
